Hivos is seeking an experienced Donor Outreach Manager to join our Business Development Team. In this role, you will identify new fundraising opportunities, build and maintain donor relationships, and organize various outreach activities to promote the organization’s mission. You will play a pivotal role in securing funds, leading proposal development, and delivering impactful fundraising campaigns across the African continent.
Objectives of the Role
- Promote Awareness of Hivos’ mission and programs to potential donors.
- Cultivate Donor Networks: Build and maintain relationships with committed donors and volunteers.
- Identify New Opportunities: Discover new avenues for fundraising with bi-and multi-lateral government donors and foundations in Africa.
- Plan Fundraising Initiatives to meet Hivos’ financial goals.
- Foster External Relationships with stakeholders.
- Ensure major donors are kept informed and satisfied.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate Hivos’ Mission effectively to potential donors.
- Lead Outreach Efforts focusing on donors in Africa.
- Contribute to Hivos’ financial targets by driving successful fundraising campaigns.
- Guide Proposal Teams to craft competitive grant applications.
- Coordinate Fundraising Events in collaboration with the program and communications teams.
- Build Relationships with external stakeholders for long-term engagement.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum six years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing roles, preferably in an international development context.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong understanding of business development processes and donor engagement.
- Proven leadership abilities to motivate both internal teams and external partners.
- Attention to Detail in managing donor relationships and event coordination.
- A proactive attitude with a knack for donor intelligence and research.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in communications, business, public relations, or a related field.
- Experience with donor management systems.
- Proven success in writing grant proposals and fundraising letters.
- Confidence in public speaking and donor presentations.
